24 parties invited to Sonia Gandhi's opposition meet

The second united opposition summit, scheduled for July 17–18 in Bengaluru, is anticipated to draw a total of 24 parties. Sonia Gandhi is set to ask every party leader to dinner on July 17. Indian Union Muslim League is a new participant, however, following an apparent confrontation at the first meeting in Patna over Congress's support for the ordinance issue, the Aam Aadmi Party has also been invited. Sonia Gandhi, the leader of the Congress Parliamentary Party, is reportedly planning to attend the Bengaluru conference.

Dk Shivakumar, Karnataka's deputy chief minister, had made a similar claim earlier. Around 17 parties attended the Patna meeting. This time, the invitation has been extended to seven new parties: the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK), Kongu Desa Makkal Katchi (KDMK), Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP), All India Forward Bloc, Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), Kerala Congress (Joseph), and Kerala Congress (Mani).
