|The Auto Episode - THE DEN|
Innovations force consortiums to think about the future, concept cars have been a staple of the automotive landscape for decades. Here let us introduce you to our concept car of this month.
Inspired by the film series “Avatar” and its world of pandora, with fully intuitive control –
“Mercedes-Benz Vision AVTR"
Imagine the car’s centre console recognizes the human driver’s heartbeat and breath, yes the car doesn’t have a steering wheel but the Vision AVTR, establishes a biometric connection with the driver manifesting a new interaction between human, machine and nature. Simply, when the driver places their hand on the multi-functional control element on the center console, humans and machines become one.
The four fully individually controllable spherical-shaped wheels with a combined engine power of more than 350 kW enables completely new freedom and guarantees driving dynamics at the highest level. Car’s front and rear axles can be driven simultaneously or in opposite ways this makes the Vision AVTR to move sideways by approximately 30 degrees, proffering it a reptile-like appearance during the movement.
The neuro-inspired Vision AVTR extracts the energy supply from the cached current of the integrated solar plates on the back of the car, the 33 multi-directionally movable surface elements acting as ‘bionic flaps’ communicate with the driver and the outside world.
The supercar provides an immersive experience space in which passengers connect with each other, and with the vehicle in a unique way by the merging of interior and exterior. Passengers become aware of various forces of nature, such as magnetic fields, bioenergy or ultraviolet lights that are obviously not visible to the human eye.
It contains organic battery technology with exceptional fast charging capability. The revolutionary battery technology is based on graphene-based organic cell chemistry which is 100 % recyclable.
With a capacity of around 110 kWh, the vision AVTR enables an electric range of more than 700 kilometers.
With nature being the inspiration of the model, the seats are upholstered in vegan DINAMICA leather which is made from recycled old clothing, flags and PET plastic bottles. Its flooring is decked with karuun wood, which grows extremely fast and is harvested by hand in Indonesia. Large areas such as the back shell of the seat and the sky decorated with colour changing fabric stimulated by the colourful world of the sea.
