The kingpin and main conspirator, Mandeep Kaur alias Mona, and her husband Jaswinder Singh were apprehended by police on Saturday from Uttarakhand less than a week after a group of robbers stole Rs 8.49 crore from the office of the cash management company "CMS-Connecting Commerce" in Ludhiana.
Another suspect, Gaurav alias Gulshan, 19, a first-year degree student from Balmiki colony, KC Road, Barnala, has also been taken into custody by police, bringing the total number of arrests in this case to nine.
Mandeep Singh Sidhu, the police commissioner for Ludhiana, said in a statement to the media that the gang members who carried out the heist had promised to make pilgrimages to various holy locations like Haridwar, Hemkund Sahib, and Kedarnath "after successful execution of the robbery."
