Uttar Pradesh has made preparations to tackle Omicron - the new strain of coronavirus - after learning lessons from previous rounds of coronavirus outbreaks. There have already been 21 cases reported in the state so far. As reported by news agency ANI, chief minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed officials to increase the pace of vaccination and vigorously follow recommendations given by the health advisory committee regarding prevention and treatment of Covid-19.

Furthermore, the government has ordered the relevant authorities to adhere strictly to the Covid-19 protocol, including testing, vaccination, surveillance, and sanitization throughout Uttar Pradesh.

A total of 100 new beds will be available in all medical colleges of the state, and 50 more in CHCs and PHCs, reported ANI, citing the Chief Minister's Office. More than 3,011 primary health care clinics and 855 community health clinics are being equipped with advanced technology, ANI reports.
