A Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist was killed early on Monday after security forces thwarted an attempt to cross the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir, according to a defence official.
The terrorist has been identified as Bagyladra Poonch resident Muneer Hussain.
According to the Army, Hussain, a self-described division commander for Hizbul Mujahideen, crossed the Line of Control (LoC) into Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) in 1993 for military training before returning in 1996 and visiting PoK once more in 1998.
In addition, the defence official noted that Hussain has organised several attacks against security personnel and was associated with Maulana Dawood Kashmir, who is in turn close with Syed Salauddin, the founder of Hizbul Mujahideen.
