Cyclone Biparjoy made landfall in Gujarat yesterday, but no lives were lost as a result, according to the head of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), who also noted that two persons had passed away earlier. He reported that 23 persons had been hurt.
According to Atul Karwal, Director General of the National Disaster Response Force, Kachchh has been the district most severely affected by power outages, with more than 40% of the district being without electricity. Approximately 800 trees were uprooted, 500 buildings (mainly kacchha houses and hutments) were damaged, and more than 1,000 communities experienced power outages, the official continued.
