A petrol truck caught fire and burst on Saturday night in Mizoram's Aizawl district, causing at least 4 fatalities and 18 injuries. Around 6 o'clock in the evening, when the tanker was travelling to Champhai from Tuirial hamlet, 18 kilometres to the east of the state capital, an accident happened.

Locals attempted to collect gasoline that was pouring out of the tanker for unknown reason, and the tanker caught fire as a result.

Four persons were burned to death, while 18 others had burn injuries that required hospitalisation. Five of them were in critical condition, according to the police.
