PM Modi visits the famous Al- Hakim Mosque in Cairo, Egypt

On Sunday, Indian Dawoodi Bohra community members helped rebuild the famous Al-Hakim Mosque in Cairo, Egypt, which dates back to the 11th century.

Prime Minister Modi was given a tour of the mosque on the second day of his state visit to Egypt. The mosque's most recent refurbishment was finished roughly three months ago.

The mosque primarily offers Friday prayers as well as the five required prayers.

The mosque, which was constructed in 1012, has finely carved inscriptions on its walls and doorways, and the prime minister was spotted admiring them.

Al-Hakim, the second Fatimid mosque to be built in Cairo, is the fourth-oldest mosque in the city and is more than a thousand years old. The mosque has a total area of 13,560 square metres, with its recognisable central courtyard taking about 5,000 square metres.
