President Putin: 'Drove a taxi after the collapse of the USSR'

|Shiksha Dev|THE DEN|

Putin, who expressed the impact of the fall of the Soviet Union on millions of others, admitted to driving a taxi during hard times, even though he said it was "unpleasant to talk about." Russian President Vladimir Putin drove a taxi to boost his income following the fall of the Soviet Union, RIA Novosti reported.

In a documentary, the Russian leader is quoted as saying: "Sometimes I needed to earn more money."

It's unpleasant to discuss, but, unfortunately, that's what I was doing, earning extra money through driving.

Putin's devastation at the fall of the Soviet Union

As Putin put it, the collapse of the USSR ended "historical Russia."

Three decades ago, he lamented its disintegration, saying it is still a tragedy for the majority of citizens.

Due to the transition from communism to capitalism that occurred with the end of the Soviet Union, millions were plunged into extreme poverty.
