Today, the Karnataka High Court rejected Twitter's appeal of the Centre's orders to delete specific messages and accounts. In addition, Twitter was fined 50 lakh by the court for its actions. Additionally, it rejected Twitter's plea for a stay of the order's implementation.

In July of last year, Twitter filed a petition with the Karnataka High Court to challenge the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology's blocking orders, claiming that the decisions were arbitrary and violated the right to free speech. In light of the takedown orders granted last year, the High Court in April questioned the central government about why it had not provided any justifications for restricting some accounts on Twitter.
