The House of Houbigant is the only fragrance house to have endured for four centuries and has been in business since 1775.
The House of Houbigant's perfumers has produced revolutionary advancements in perfume formulation over the centuries, forever changing the way perfumes are created.
It is fair to argue that modern perfumery as we know it today would not exist without the House of Houbigant. It all started with simply a simple flower basket. A la Corbeille de Fleurs, the first store, was located at 19 Faubourg Saint-Honoré.
The House of Houbigant became the official perfumer to the royal courts of Europe over the years, including those of Queen Victoria, Alexander III of Russia, Napoleon, and Napoleon III. The first fougère (or "fern-like") perfume was introduced by the House in 1882 with the release of Fougère Royale, founding a new scent family that is still the most well-liked family of men's fragrances today.
Houbigant was the first fragrance company to figure out how to separate certain compounds from organic raw materials. They unveiled Quelques Fleurs in 1912, the first real multi-floral bouquet ever made. Before that, floral scents were often made from a single flower or a combination of flowers, herbs, and other essences.
According to The Genealogy of Perfumes, Quelques Fleurs was a breakthrough that created a completely new category of perfumes and had a long-lasting impact on compositions, including many of today's significant fragrances.
This month we've chosen Quelques Fleurs Jardin Secret as the fragrance of the month. Intoxicating, mesmerising, and full of floral notes, Jardin Secret is a contemporary olfactory portrayal of a lovely garden where hundreds of flowers are in bloom.
This clear, penetrating fragrance blends bohemian influences with today's structured modernity and is surrounded by sleek wood notes and citrus blooms.
The fragrance has citrusy head notes, white floral middle notes and woody base notes. Jardin Secret is a modern olfactive interpretation of a beautiful garden, intoxicating, hypnotic and rich in floral notes, where thousands of flowers bloom. It will cost you Rs 36870 to wear that alluring everlasting fragrance for "her going out to the past".
