As rescue crews race against time to find dozens still missing from a collapsed Kentucky factory, emergency crews desperately sought survivors Sunday after tornadoes claimed at least 94 lives and destroyed towns across the US. In addition to one storm that traveled more than 200 miles (320 kilometers), Joe Biden called the wave of storms "the largest" in American history.

An emotional Biden said on NBC, "It's a tragedy." he pledged support for affected states. "And we still don't know how many lives are lost and the full extent of the damage."

Scores of search and rescue officers helped stunned citizens across the US heartland sort through the rubble of their homes and businesses tonight.

In Kentucky alone, more than 80 people have been killed, most of them at a candle factory in Mayfield, Kentucky's governor Andy Beshear announced Sunday.
