Tribute to Lata Mangeshkar

Lata Mangeshkar is one of the legendary playback singers. Her career started in 1942 and has spanned over seven decades. Trained from the age of five by her father, classical singer Deenanath Mangeshkar, she began her career in 1942.


During her seven decades of career, she sang in more than a thousand films in about twenty languages , mainly Hindi and Marathi with performed songs in Bengali and Urdu as well.


She has received the highest Indian artistic awards, including the Bharat Ratna Award, and appeared in the Guinness Book of Records from 1974 to 1991 as the most recorded singer in the world.


In addition to producing the films Vaadal (1953), Jhaanjhar (1953), Kanchan (1955), and Lekin (1990), she also served as music director. She died at the age of 92, her death has brought down the curtain on an era in the Indian film industry.
