Former US President Donald Trump's eldest son and many Fox News anchors begged the White House chief of staff, Mark Meadows, to get the president to call off the hordes of his supporters ransacking the US Congress on January 6. The US House of Representatives committee investigating the January 6 insurrection also recommended criminal prosecution for former Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows, releasing texts from 9,000 documents seized from him.

Meadows texted Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of the former president, "He's gotta condemn this shit ASAP." “The Capitol Police tweet is not enough.”

“I’m pushing it hard. I agree,” Meadows replied. “We need an Oval Office address. He has to lead now. It has gone too far and gotten out of hand,” Trump Jr texted back.

Hannity and Ingram have also texted Meadows begging him to persuade Donald Trump to call off his supporters, as opposed to the opposite position they have taken since, downplaying the insurrection. Ingram wrote, "The president needs to tell people in Washington to go home," adding, "This is hurting us all.". He is destroying his legacy.”
