Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, gave an order to prepare Ayushman Bharat cards of those eligible on a priority basis on Thursday. He said that access to healthcare shouldn't be hindered by financial constraints.
The government offers a family's yearly health coverage of 5 lahks under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY), and all beneficiaries are given Ayushman Bharat cards.
Yogi Adityanath said public health was the government's responsibility and that additional funds from the Chief Minister's Discretionary Fund could be released if necessary to meet the needs of the populace's healthcare. He was speaking at a "Janata Darshan" outside Mahant Digvijaynath Smriti Bhawan at Gorakhnath Temple.
