'In the End'
From: 'Hybrid Theory' (2000) The song mixes elements of alternative rock and hip-hop, a
fusion that was considered novel for the time. This
combination, fitting into a music genre called nu metal, shaped
Linkin Park's style and made them one of the most relevant
bands of the early 2000s. Though 'One Step Closer' was the
song that broke Linkin Park, 'In the End' was the track that
made sure that fans were around to stay.
The song's perfect blend of melancholy melody and angstdriven aggression showed the range of what the band could do.
At the end of 2001, the video clip for this song became one of
the most played on the American music channel MTV. The group is known for its signature musical style that mixes
rock, rap, and electronic sounds, although it was considered nu
metal from the start, until their second album ‘Meteora’, which
at the time opted for this genre and for rap metal, on their With
the third album ‘Minutes to Midnight’, they decided to explore
other genres and switched to a "softer" style leaning towards
alternative rock.
