Blankspace
From: 1989 (2014)
Taylor’s got a lot of bangers in her pop closet, but this dramatic
electro-pop from ‘1989’ is truly a gem. “Blank Space” works as
far more than satire, though: snappy and uncluttered, it’s a
fantastic sing-along dotted with quotable moments (“I can
make the bad guys good for a weekend,” “Boys only want love if
it’s torture”). Also, personally it was the first song that I used
to sing word to word.
The “Lover” performer has made her mark on music history as
a performer, record maker, guitar master, and pop hero. Taylor
has moved from country to pop and beyond, building a singular
catalog in the process.
Before Taylor Swift came along, country music was primarily
music made by adults, for adults, and about adults. But she
changed it all, it was also for the teens now. Swifties have a
motto among the fandom: "Taylor Swift is the music industry",
which has been confirmed by various artists, producers, and
recognized awards within the scene.
